An early picking of the prized asatsuyu cultivar tea leaves from tea farmer Matsuo Masatoshi's tea garden. This cultivar is called a "natural gyokuro" because of the naturally high level of sweetness it produces in comparison to Yabukita leaves.

  • Type: Tamaryokucha (Sencha with the last finishing step in rolling skipped to allow the leaf to curl)
  • Ingredients: Green tea
  • Harvest: Late April 
  • Region: Higashi Sonogi, Nagasaki

 

Steeping Recommendation

  • Tea: 3-5 grams (more tea for a bolder brew)
  • Time: 60 sec (10-15 sec, on 2nd; 30-60 sec on 3rd steeping)
  • Water: 70C/158F, 200 ml (hotter temp for a more bitter brew)
  • Resteep 2-3x
